With only half a day at leisure in-between our packed itinerary, what could have been an ideal place worth visiting?
I was in Dubai with my family for our annual holiday. We had taken a five-day package tour, which was jammed with activities. However, we had half a day in our hand that we utilised by visiting the Lost Chambers at Atlantis, The Palm. The biggest reason why we chose this out of all the attractions in Dubai is that we wanted to see the hotel. Moreover, we all have a liking for marine life, which overall brought us here.
Standing at the edge of UAE, this hotel acts as a gate to those who take the sea route to enter the land of Sheikhs. Amongst many jewels of the Atlantis Hotel, The Lost Chambers was the one that fitted the best into our schedule. A giant aquarium that brings to life the sunken city of Atlantis. Many say that during the construction of the hotel many passages were discovered that were believed to be the ruins of the lost city of Atlantis.
It is truly surprising to know about the existence of this mythical city of Atlantis, that I have only known through comic books. Let us dive into the history of this lost city, shall we?
How to reach The Lost Chambers?
The Lost Chambers is one of the key attractions of the Atlantis Hotel located at the Palm Jumeirah. It is a 30-minute drive away from Dubai Airport (approximately 100 AED).
How much does the ticket cost?
The basic entry ticket for the aquarium costs INR 2170 for an adult and INR 1680 for children between ages 0-11 years.
What you can do at the Lost Chambers?
There are plenty more things to experience in Atlantis, The Palm than what we managed to explore. However, here is what you can expect at the Lost Chambers.
Experience the underwater above the ground
You get an underwater experience without going under the water. That’s right! The Lost Chambers brings to you more than 65000 variety of marine species in one place. From Albino Alligators to pretty stingrays. From sea horses to sharks, you name it and you’ll find them here!
Watch one of the feeding shows!
We were strolling inside the Lost Chambers when we realized that the divers were about to feed the sharks and the stingrays. Words cannot describe how thrilling it was to see divers surrounded by sharks and stingrays, listening to their commands. There is no specific timing of the show. Plenty of shows happen throughout the day so you might encounter one while strolling inside the Lost Chambers just like we did!
Discover the secrets of the lost city of Atlantis
Walk inside the tunnels of The Lost Chambers to discover the hidden treasures and secrets of the sunken city of Atlantis. Few of the artifacts were recovered from the sea while this place was being constructed. Does this mean the lost city of Atlantis is no longer a myth?
Snorkel or dive to get a better view!
The snorkeling experience at the Lost Chambers is said to be one of the best activities here! The Ambassador Lagoon pool lets you see the marine creatures up close. Moreover, you can dive at one of the three diving zones, the Atlantis Dive Discovery for beginners and non-certified divers. Single tank dive for certified divers and the Predator dive to feed the fourteen different kinds of shark living inside the Ambassador lagoon. You can check the ticket price here.
We wanted to do plenty of things here. Being short on time, The Lost Chambers seemed perfect for our itinerary. However, if you have the space to squeeze in some more activities then you can visit the Aquaventure water park or swim with the dolphins at the Dolphins Bay.
P.S: While you visit the Atlantis hotel, don’t forget to take a tour of the complex and binge on their amazing pastries.
