Venetian was our first choice of stay in Las Vegas, and why not? It is the second-largest hotel in the world, the property is grand and offers all kinds of luxury that one would expect from a five-star property like the Venetian. However, our stay was a mix of highs and lows.
High in terms of the location and the hotel in general and low from a hospitality point of view. Keep reading the article to get more details about my experience and below is a quick video of our room and hotel tour.
First impression of the Venetian
Our first impression of this place was perfectly captured with a soft “wooooooowwwww” coming out of our mouths. My mouth hung open for 10 minutes, and I couldn’t bring myself to look straight as I kept looking at the incredibly stunning paintings on the ceilings. However, as soon as we reached the front desk, things turned sour. Here’s what happened.
Check-in experience at the Venetian
We had booked our tickets from a third-party website called Tickets at work instead of booking directly from Venetian’s website. Moreover, we booked a room with access to their Prestige Club Lounge, which was mentioned clearly in our booking confirmation email. However, at the check-in desk, the agent informed us that no such information was present at their end, and insisted on giving us a room of a lower value. We tried to make them realize how unfair this was since we had already paid for the better suite. The agent sent us away to talk to his colleague at the Prestige Club Lounge Desk.
Now, here is where things turned ugly. This new person we tried to reason with decided to blame the whole issue on us. She said that The Venetian never received the booking for the premium suites, so they can’t do anything about it. Instead, if we were to chase down our third-party booking website and get them to send a confirmation to The Venetian, she would get us the suite we had booked. Of course, throughout this ordeal, we kept requesting her to check our confirmation which categorically mentioned the suite we had booked. But she didn’t budge and made us feel quite insulted with her attitude and eye rolls.
After 50 minutes, the lady decided to give us the room we booked without informing us. She said that she was giving us complimentary access whereas we booked the rooms with the access, and because of this confusion, we ended up missing our breakfast the next day.
The point of sharing all these details is to let you know that this can happen with anyone because we generally book from our favorite travel app or website. Therefore, to avoid such situations, the best thing to do would be to call or email the hotel before your trip to check if there’s any discrepancy with your booking.
I would like to say a big thanks to Peyton, who was the manager on duty on the day of our checkout. He was empathetic and kind enough to listen to our bad experiences and tried his best to make the rest of our experience at Venetian great.
Our room at the Venetian
We stayed at the Prestige Club Suite on the 32nd floor. The room was gigantic, and the view was beautiful. The Venetian claims to have the largest suites on The Strip, and they lived up to this promise. We got a decent view of the Strip, the mountain ranges, and the pool. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was majestic. It had a separate bathing area, a bathtub, and a separate toilet area. There were three televisions in our suite, including one in the bathroom. Grand right?
Food at the Venetian
The Venetian has several restaurants within the complex, from exquisite Asian delicacies to Steak houses. We dined at one of their popular cafes, Grand Lux Cafe at the Palazzo. We tried the rustic 18″ delicious B.B.Q. chicken Pizza. All the ingredients were fresh, and I loved the crust. It was neither too hard nor soggy. We also had evening snacks and cocktails at the Prestige Club Lounge. And as usual, the food didn’t disappoint us. Plus, the cocktails were delicious, and the view, ugh! so gorgeous.
Things to do in the Venetian
There’s so much you can do at the Venetian hotel. The hotel has plenty of art galleries, restaurants serving world-class food, and picturesque alleys where you’ll want to get lost. You can also take a fun ride on the Gondola to get a wholesome experience. The ride is short but fun. You can also visit the famous Madame Tussauds wax museum or watch a show at the Venetian Theatre.
Lastly, you can try your hand at the casino table for fun. We don’t promote gambling, but you can try this as a fun experience with minimum bets and consciously counting the losses (if any). However, we hope you win a lot and have an awesome time here. If you’re planning on dropping some serious money on the tables or the slot machines, we highly recommend getting their Grazie Rewards Card. You can sign up for one online and collect the physical card at the Grazie Desk or you could complete the basic questionnaire once you reach the hotel. It is free and you get $15 on the house to gamble in slot machines.
Staying at a hotel like Venetian was a one-of-a-kind treat-your-self experience and we highly recommend staying here. Moreover, if you are booking your hotel via third party website/ app, make sure to call the hotel before your trip to clear out any confusion related to your bookings to avoid last-minute hassle. Don’t forget to watch the Venetian hotel tour video on YouTube.
