With only half a day at leisure in-between our packed itinerary, what could have been an ideal place worth visiting?
It was in the year 2016 when I first came across Lansdowne in a travel magazine, a pristine hill station in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. Named after Lord Lansdowne, one of the viceroys of British India, it now serves as the residence of the Garhwal regiment.
Over the years, Lansdowne has become a popular destination amongst tourists because of its picturesque beauty and tranquil atmosphere. People visit this city to relax and detox their minds and souls. Moreover, due to its proximity to Delhi, it also serves as an ideal weekend getaway destination.

The culinary style of Bengal is diverse, especially when it comes to their main course. Moreover, they follow a multi-course tradition where the food is eaten in a specific order. The rice (being the staple food) is eaten with a variety of Bhaja (Vegetables fried in mustard oil) at first. Followed by Saag (Spinach fried in mustard oil and black cumin seeds). Then comes the Shukto, a mixture of vegetable prepared in a special spice called Paanch Phoron. Followed by Maach or Mangsho (Fish or Mutton/ Chicken curry). The meal ends with Chutney that is sweet and sour and mainly made of Tomatoes along with Kheer (Rice pudding) or any Bengali sweet.
I decided to take a trip to Lansdowne on a whim, only having a week to plan everything before setting off on my adventure. It was the middle of June, and many people from the northern region had already planned their mountain getaways. Hence, most hotels were either fully booked or only had space for one or two people.
‘Why Morocco?’ was a question that everybody asked me when I told them about my plans for visiting the country. Here in India, not many are familiar with this country. Even I wasn’t sure about it until I met my friend Soukaina from Morocco. We used to work together and bonded well over memes and other things.

Remember Kareena Kapoor in ‘3 Idiots’ describing Gujarati food as missiles? That is how I was introduced to this vibrantly delicious cuisine of the state of Gujarat. However, this doesn’t stop here. The four major regions of the state – North Gujarat, Kacch, Kathiyawad and Surat bring their own uniqueness to this cuisine.
