If you’re into EDM, you must have heard about Sunburn, India’s version of Tomorrowland. This music festival started in Goa in 2007 and is the largest music festival in Asia and the 3rd largest dance festival in the world. This three-day-long festival is a haven for music lovers full of great music, food, and fun.

In 2018, Sunburn came to Delhi, a blessing for Delhiites. It saved us a flight ticket and a few paid leaves to Goa. Although we can’t beat Goa’s party vibe. However, we were happy to have a festival like Sunburn close to our home. I loved everything about this music festival and can’t wait to attend the one in Goa. I can only imagine how awesome it would be to witness these musicians creating magic right in the land of parties, Goa.

Fun Fact!

Since we were discussing Goa, I thought of sharing a fun fact with you. Did you know it is the birthplace of the music genre Goa trance? A genre that originated in the 1990s, it had a drone-like bassline similar to Techno and was popular at parties on Vagator Beach, Anjuna beach, and Arambol beach.

Sunburn Music Festival, Gurgaon (2018)

It was a 2-day festival in Gurgaon with some of the best musicians in EDM genres lined up. HUDA grounds near Sector 29 was the event venue, which was literally across the street from my office (another bonus). For me, the main highlight was watching the famous trio Above & Beyond performing live. Their Sun & Moon song is an absolute love!

Overall Experience at Sunburn

It was my first EDM music festival, and I was very excited. I went here with my friend Akansha, who is also into EDM. The venue was nice and big with a good parking area. I was skeptical about the crowd because a drunk Gurgaon crowd can be sketchy. However, I’m happy to say that we had a good time at Sunburn.

We both are like the perfect combo to attend any concert. I’m sure you are thinking why. That’s because I’m an introvert, and Akansha is an extrovert. So she brought in the energy, and I brought my resources by finding the best food stalls, optimizing our in and out time, and taking photos. She had a fun time dancing and jumping to the music, while I enjoyed it with some good food and photography.

The After Party!

Every party has a fun after-party full of more food, music, and drinks. Plus, a great opportunity to socialize with like-minded folks. However, Sunburn’s After Party was an additional ₹2,000 cost, which was way out of our budget. So, Akansha and I decided to have our little after-party at Sector 32 Gurgaon market. We stopped by a momo vendor and relished a plate of piping hot momos with some bubble tea. Cool right?

You can find more details about the upcoming events on Sunburn’s official website, and I hope you enjoy your time here.
