We missed our flight back to Seattle at San Jose Del Cabo airport. You heard that right! We laugh about it now, thinking of how we managed to miss our flight despite reaching 3 hours before our departure time. But, on the day of the incident, it was super stressful and disheartening.
If you are considering traveling on Turkish Airlines for your next flight, especially from the USA to India (and vice versa), this blog post is for you. I recently traveled on Turkish Airlines from Seattle to Delhi and want to share my experience with you. So, look no further, keep reading this article to know all about the booking process, amenities, and overall experience.
Welcome to another flight review! I’m a budget traveler, and I love exploring new low-fare airlines. While my usual preferred airlines are Frontier and Spirit, I recently decided to try a different airline for my trip from Denver to Seattle.
The travel industry significantly grew in the last decade as more people started traveling. So did Air Travel, with frequent flights and flexible options to suit our budget and needs. However, the pricing model is outrageous and borderline unethical, but it also reduced our travel time.
The holiday season is just around the corner (in the US), and so is the travel season for Indians to reunite with their family in India. This generally results in a massive spike in airfare, leaving us spending half of our annual savings buying flight tickets. However, it’s all worth it as we meet our families in person and spend quality time together. But, the question arises, which is the best airline to travel such a long distance?
I want to share an unfortunate experience with Indigo airlines, where ₹8,000 cash got stolen from my checked-in baggage. That’s right! Bags that we hand them over out of sheer faith. This happened while travelling back to Delhi from Mumbai on 30th October 2021.
In 2019 I decided to visit the north-most country of North Africa (also known as the Barbary coast), Morocco. I chose Gulf Air, the flag carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, to travel to and from Casablanca. The Gulf Air is well known for its good in-flight service, and the flight timings were perfect for my itinerary. Here is a short review of my experience flying the Gulf Air.
I am writing my first airline review, and hence, starting with the most recent long flight that I took from Delhi to Singapore last year.
I am a big fan of Vistara Airlines and prefer them over any other airline because of their unmatchable quality and comfort. It happened to be a coincidence that I was planning a trip to Singapore, and Vistara launched its first international flight to none other than Singapore in July 2019. Therefore, without any second thought, I picked Vistara airlines.
I wasn’t prepared for this flight review post. Therefore, you’ll see a fewer photos of the flight. However, here’s a video of my journey, where I’ve tried to cover as much detail as possible. 🙂 Also check out my Singapore trip itinerary, where I cover every detail from the places I’ve been to my overall trip cost.
Flight timing and ticket cost
I booked my tickets a month before my travel date. Therefore, I was expecting a slightly higher price. However, it was nominal, and cost INR 26655 per person (two-way ticket). It was a direct flight from Delhi to Singapore, and the flying time was approximately 5 hours 45 minutes, which is the fasted travel time to Singapore.
Boarding
We reached Indira Gandhi Airport (Terminal-3) 3 hours before our flight time and got our tickets printed from the kiosk near the Vistara check-in station. We self checked-in our luggage which saved a tremendous amount of time that we utilised by doing window shopping. The boarding started 45 minutes ahead of departure, at 23:45.
Flight details:
Vistara UK115
Delhi (DEL) – Singapore (SIN)
Friday, September 20, 2019
Departure: 11:45 PM
Arrive: 8:15 AM (+2:30 hours)
Duration: 5hr45min
Aircraft: Airbus A350-900
Seat: 34B (Economy Class)
In-flight experience
The economy class had three seats on each side. We got the window and the middle seat. Aisle one was empty, which gave us some extra space. Thanks to my height, leg space has never been a thing of worry. However, you never mind an empty seat, that too on an overnight flight.
Once settled, the flight attendants offered us cold towel wipes and the menu card. Fifteen minutes post our boarding, the captain made his welcome announcement, and in the next 10 minutes, we were airborne.
Food and beverage
The service began with drinks followed by dinner. The dinner tray included a bun, Thai chicken curry with steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables along with a fudge brownie. The food was delicious, especially the Thai curry. Post dinner, we were able to get a solid 4 hours of sleep.
Ground experience
We touched down at 8:15 am and walked towards the immigration counter that was 5 minutes away from the arrival gate.
Overall
The boarding and deboarding was smooth, the flight was on time, and we had a smooth journey. The delicious food was a cherry on the top. Overall it was a great experience flying with Vistara Airlines to Singapore. Additionally, sharing a few pros and cons of the flight timing.
Pros
- As this is a night flight, it will save you from the rush hour, be it on the road or at the airport.
- If you take this flight on a Friday night, you can make the most of your weekend as you’ll reach early morning in Singapore.
- The price is nominal and is the fastest way to travel from Delhi to Singapore.
Cons
Unlike India, where you can check-in to any hotel post 11 AM, Singapore has a late check-in policy. Moreover, they are very particular about the timing and allow check-ins only post 3 PM. Therefore, this is the only con that I see with the flight timing. You might feel a little sleep deprived the entire day. However, if you plan the places you might cover then you can make the most of your day. We kept our itinerary light for the day and went on exploring Orchard street and also did an Art Trail at Orchard Central.
