In the summer of 2018, I came across a picture of a blue lane decorated with colourful pots on Instagram. The image instantly caught my attention. I went straight to my friend, who is an avid traveller to enquire about the place. “Aah Chefchaouen!” she said. The conversation happened a year ago. Who knew I that would end up visiting it next year!
After two eventful days exploring Casablanca and Rabat, it was now time to shift my base to the north of the country. Tangier became my home for the next two days. A beautiful city in the north of Morocco, sharing its proximity with Spain through the ‘Strait of Gibraltar’. The locals often joke around saying “Spain is just a 15-minute swim away!” Somehow it seems real as I could see the Spanish land from the rooftop of my hotel.
‘Why Morocco?’ was a question that everybody asked me when I told them about my plans for visiting the country. Here in India, not many are familiar with this country. Even I wasn’t sure about it until I met my friend Soukaina from Morocco. We used to work together and bonded well over memes and other things.
